ONLINE entries for the inaugural Mount Panorama Punish will close on Wednesday evening.
The 6.2 kilometre running event around the iconic street circuit has attracted almost 500 entrants.
Runners will be required to maintain a steady pace during the event, with checkpoints to operate around the track. Race director Jennifer Arnold said runners will be required to maintain a steady pace to make the required time. “For runners to finish in one hour, an average pace of 9.4 minutes per kilometre will be required,” she said.
Strict cut-off times will be in operation during the event, at three kilometres (30 minutes, at McPhillamy Park), five kilometres (45 minutes) and the finish (one hour, at 6.2 kilometres). The run is 6.2 kilometres long and reaches an elevation of 174 metres.
“Good runners should be able to do it in the low 20s [minutes],” Ms Arnold said.
